Substance Abuse Outpatient Counseling Program

CAA has operated drug and alcohol counseling programs since 1991.  Services are primarily provided to Khmer-speaking men and women who are either court mandated or self-referred to receive services.  English speaking clients of other ethnicities may also receive services.  Additional services are available to CalWORKS recipients and those convicted of driving under the influence.

Substance abuse, particularly alcohol abuse, is a chronic problem in the Cambodian community, as many people drink to escape from mental and family problems.  The substance abuse counseling programs at CAA provide group and individual counseling, case management and treatment services, and Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step groups.
