Marriage Enrichment Program

CAA recognizes that Asian Pacific Islander and Hispanic families face serious pressures, socio-economic hardship and cultural norms that undervalue women and define gender roles.  These issues lead to depression, divorce and a breakdown in family functioning. The Marriage Enrichment Program directly responds to these issues by sustaining and strengthening marriages in these communities through two main activities:

Marriage Enhancement and Marriage Skills Training

Field PictureThis training is aimed at enhancing skills and knowledge about access to marriage resources, communication, reduction of anger, conflict resolution, understanding of cultural norms and the relationship between cultural norms and a healthy marital partnership. The training is free of charge. Each group training consists of five weekly, two-hour sessions. The training is available in the following languages: Khmer, Lao, Thai, Vietnamese, Kmhmu, Hmong, Spanish, and Samoan. Everyone who completes the five session training receives a stipend.

Public Awareness Campaign

In addition to training, CAA is making great efforts at increasing community awareness on the importance of healthy marriages through ethnic media (radio, newspaper, and television), printed materials (flyers, posters, T-Shirts, and billboards), and community outreach.
